Since the pandemic changed our shopping patterns, both of them have had to adapt and get into a multi-channel system. Both of them offer pretty much the same thing.īoth of them are changing with the changes in customer needs and demands. Amazon is also getting into that with physical retail spaces. But Walmart has an established network of brick and mortar stores across the country, with bulk-buying made possible at lower prices at Sam’s Club. Now they both have streaming video.Īmazon makes higher revenues – when you compare them on an e-commerce level. While each of them claims this, they are rather similar – they both offer just about every product under the sun – from clothes to groceries to electronics. The current share of US households however shows a stark difference – 61% have Amazon Prime, as opposed to 7% for Walmart. Amazon Prime membership costs $139 for a year, as opposed to $98 for Walmart+. They both offer free shipping along with video streaming now. Now all of this puts Walmart+ and Amazon Prime on a more even footing. If all of Paramount+ subscribers joined Walmart+, then their numbers would simply double! This seems to have had an impact on Paramount+’s numbers, which has risen, compared to Hulu, HBO or Peacock. This partnership between Walmart and Paramount did not have a national TV push up until now, although they did some targeted paid media. And it is free! The two announced their partnership last August and rolled it out in September. This partnership between Walmart and Paramount opens up the ad-supported version of Paramount+ to Walmart+ members. The focus of this campaign from Deutsch LA is on all the benefits that the subscription program will bring to its members – free delivery on orders over $35, discounts on gas, free shipping on all site-to-home orders, Walmart Rewards, and so much more. The kooky Spiral Cactus begins its life as a straight cactus, the ridges beginning to spiral once it reaches a height of approximately 10cm. This particular cactus comes in a 19cm diameter growing pot so is also of a pretty impressive size, and will have been growing happily for years. Construction highly enough due to their reasonably priced, high-quality work. They tore it all down, replaced everything that needed replacing, covered the whole thing with plywood, installed the new cool roof with shiny new vents, cleaned and hauled it all away, and threw in a few little extra fixes that tied the new look all together. They set up the inspections in such a way that there was not much down time while waiting for that to be done by the city. They were very mindful of my family, letting us know before getting up on the roof each morning, and never came in and out to use the facilities. The most impressive part for me was that he and his crew came out each and every day until the job was done. Greg checked the weather reports, got the dump truck out there the day after the last rain passed through, and immediately set to work on tearing it all down. My roof was 27 years old, three layers high, with broken decking, and some rotted out fascia. He inspected the attic, got on the roof and measured, then gave me his true quote, which was quite reasonable. He did not waste our time going through all kinds of forms and unnecessary selections before we were ready to sign. He did not try any high-pressure sales tactics. Each of those companies spent an hour or more inspecting, measuring, and going over so many documents before finally quoting a price and then subsequently lowering it by several THOUSANDS, trying to get us to sign then and there. 12/7/2023 0 Comments Tiny rails secrets cowIn retrospect, did you have any idea what you were getting into? Do you think that you went into it with your eyes wide open or, you know, kind of totally closed? It's a coastline town popular with tourists and home to a ferry hub with routes spanning out to islands close to the mainland and to those like Tamsin's that are more remote. LA: Oban is the gateway to an archipelago of Hebridean islands. We looked overseas, we looked in Europe, but my childhood, a lot of that was spent up in Scotland really in remote places, and my husband was Scottish so the two kind of threads came together so we thought, "Let's go and look." And so one day we just got in the car really early in the morning and, and just drove all the way up and, um, ended up in Oban. TC: We just decided that, you know, now is the time and to really find somewhere where we could bring our life and our work much more closely together and live much more closely to the land and actually be in an environment that would nourish and nurture us and have nature as its focus. LA: So you and your partner at the time, you decided that you were going to leave? I would love to learn how to share that with others." And so I just went back to school and retrained and studied and specializing in trauma work and things like that, so I then ended up in a GP practice and, um, doing a lot of outreach stuff then, and as a result of that I had to move communities. I was really fascinated by the therapies and natural medicines that had helped me an- and actually enabled me to avoid surgery, and I just thought, "Well, that's helped me so much. Um, and then one day I had a huge car smash and that really stopped me in my tracks and it was a very frightening time and very sobering time because, you know, at that age you feel that you're invincible, you've got your whole life ahead of you, and I really had to learn to walk again and to really get basic function. And I guess my environment went from BBC and publishing and then into advertising, and I, I ended up doing a lot of shoot location work out in America so I was traveling and moving around quite a lot and, you know, the world felt so big, um, being so young and, and meeting so many different communities, um, across the globe. It was the time of Britpop and, you know, we were all so young and just hitting London and finding our niche and just loving life and living life, um, out loud. It was very undiscovered and there was a real buzz going on. I ended up in Notting Hill Gate, and it was before the film came out so it was a very different environment, I guess, to how it is now. TC: So London was fantastic and I adored being there. Why do we choose to leave, and what's the vision of the new life that a change will bring?Ĭan you paint a little bit of a picture of where in London you were based and what that place was like? LA: A move can sometimes be as much about what prompted the departure as the choice of destination. So it's quite a composite dense, rich mixture of, of the land, I suppose, i- in, inside. I've got lovely thick oak boards on the floor and in years past when I've been lambing and, and still helping others with their lambing and, um, raising up newborns that need extra help, often it's drying fleece and if I'm working with wools over the winter and carding and getting things ready for spinning then you've got the lovely rich scent of lanolin on your hands, and yeah, vegetables from the summer hanging up to dry, perhaps onions, off the beams and, um. When it's cold outside, often you feel that chill indoors as well so today I'm wearing three jumpers, couple of tops underneath, I've got my work boots on actually still and my thick socks and I've got one of those snoods around my neck. It's all the original, uh, limestone and the limestone, uh, filler that's been used, so it's. These are stones that have been prized up out of the ground from the 1800s by hand, and there's no cement or concrete. This time of year, you generally kind of put on a soup to, to, to heat up overnight and then you just keep that in the slow cook, um, for the day and, and always have a, a, a kettle on, on the stove just warm so you can just put that on the fast boil if, if you need it. TC: It's really the first big day of autumn, it's pretty stormy outside, and temperatures suddenly dropped to about eight degrees and we've had winds and the seas are just throwing themselves at the cliffs and the shore, so, um, I'm sitting in my kitchen and the stone walls are about three foot thick. LA: When we spoke, it was mid-September just as the seasons were beginning to turn. 12/7/2023 0 Comments Spiritual ascension 2014“Spiritual Exercises for the 21st Century” by Louis SavaryĮnter your email address to follow this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email. “The Divine Milieu Explained” Book by Louis Savary “The Divine Milieu” explained website by Louis Savary Other Resources (with many thanks to Louis Savary □įree Online Version of “The Divine Milieu” Spiritual Ascension so Christians are getting ready to Ascend with their 'negative' energy with Jesus at the Second Coming of Christ. The whole book is an extrapolation of Ignatius’ “Contemplation to Attain Divine Love.” Sometimes I think of “The Divine Milieu” as the Spiritual Exercises, Ignatius’ classic manual of the spiritual life, re-worked for modern times. Ignatius Loyola, the Jesuit founder, he sought “to find God in all things” and to teach others to do the same. “This little book,” he wrote, “does no more than recapitulate the eternal lesson of the church in the words of a man who, because he believes himself to feel deeply in tune with his own times, has sought to teach how to see God everywhere, to see him in all that is most hidden, most solid and most ultimate in the world.” Like St. This prompts us to seek the intrinsic meaning of life. (1) This initial growth stage brings a renewed sense of curiosity. This is an epiphany that sets one on the path of self-discovery. The first stage of spiritual ascension is the awakening. “The Divine Milieu “ is a whole spirituality for the whole person from a Jesuit who found his identity at the heart of the church, even though as a paleontologist he worked at the farthest edges of its mission. The First Spiritual Transition: Growth of Conscience. All the same, the book reads like a prose poem. At the same time, there are passages that read like scholastic responsa, staking out Teilhard’s own orthodox mystical position against heretical alternatives sometimes ascribed to him. As in monastic theology, phrases, mostly in Latin, dot the text, displaying a mind that has imbibed the Scripture in lectio divina, been formed by the recitation of the liturgy and is practiced in savoring the meaning of the simplest phrase. “The Divine Milieu” offered a symphony of themes that echoed the masters of Western spirituality, the Bible-especially St. I was strengthened by its explanation of the spiritualization of our activities, not a strong suit in the penitential spirituality of the post-Suppression (1773-1814) Jesuits. I inhaled its intoxicating this-worldly mysticism. I read it in the early 1960s, just as the Second Vatican Council was taking place. I had to list a handful of books that have influenced my life, “ The Divine Milieu ” would be at the top. I remembered it appearing in Pierre Teilhard de Chardin’s “ The Divine Milieu “. It was the Feast of the Ascension, and I was searching for a half-remembered quotation for my homily at the evening Mass. You can find the full reflection here but set forth below is an extended summary: More grace, more light, more generosity, more compassion, more to shed, more to grow. Today’s reflection comes from Drew Christiansen, S.J., former editor of America Magazine. The Ascension is actually the birth of the Inner You expressed as the spiritual individualism of the inner particle state. This Sunday, parts of the Church celebrate the Feast of the Ascension. 12/7/2023 0 Comments Tux paint game online(Note from Bill: Tux Paint 0.9.31 will allow you to convert drawings to Templates, which isn't exactly the same as layers, but it might be useful for similar purposes!) Overall, I would suggest that you don’t start knocking on doors of people with a pink flamingo on them if you’re hopeful of meeting someone else interested in swinging. They’re perfect for accessorizing your clothes, bags, or hats and are a fun and unique way to showcase your style. Custom pin badges can add some colour and personality to your outfit, and you can customize a pink flamingo badge with designs, colours, and text. And many people view a cruise as the perfect representation of that sort of fun, cocktail-in-hand stereotype, laying by the pool, without it being anything to do with swinging.įlamingos are often associated with tropical vibes, and to express your love for them, having them printed on custom pin badges is an excellent idea. The thing is, flamingos are just associated with fun, summer and often with cocktails too – they’re quirky, light-hearted and kind of cheap and cheesy. Read more: Upside-down pineapples on a cruise Upside-down pineapples are more widely associated with swinging, but flamingos could definitely be a sign on a cruise ship of a person or a couple looking to meet up with others for some swinging fun. Flamingos and upside-down pineapples together are a stronger hint. However, flamingos have so many different meanings that it isn’t guaranteed. Flamingos On A Cruise Shipįlamingos on a cruise ship could have the same meaning as on land and can mean swinging. So if you’ve sent someone a text message excited about your summer plans and you’ve included a flamingo, you haven’t outed yourself in any way! It can be hard to keep up with all the different meanings of emojis but, for now, at least, the flamingo remains quite innocent. It is an innocent emoji that doesn’t tend to have a hidden double entendre meaning, despite the use of a flamingo as a swinging sign in some communities. The flamingo emoji doesn’t have a specific meaning but is normally tied to summer fun or holidays. So, if you do decide to wear something with flamingos on it, or have plastic flamingos on your lawn, you might get a couple of vague questions from someone trying to find out more. Otherwise, you would just wear a wristband that says: “into swinging”. Even if you share a cruise with a secret swinger, they probably won’t acknowledge you – they will be more likely looking out for an upside-down pineapple.īut then the counter-argument is that these are supposed to be subtle signs. Based on my research, it seems like a lot of people have no idea that this is a sign of swinging. I think that you should be fine wearing any flamingo-themed clothing. So there’s a little bit of confusion in the community. It’s not something used in online conversations, or on cruises. The problem is that it’s more of a sign that’s used outside people’s homes or, more commonly, in an RV park. Many people like flamingos (and even pineapples) just because they are a fun decoration, and won’t be aware of the connotations. Some people believe that flamingos are a sign of someone that is into swinging, but it’s not one of the most common signifiers. It’s widely debated online as to how well know the pink flamingo symbol really is. You don’t want to give people the wrong idea!īut at the same time, if you’re someone interested in the swinging lifestyle, you can’t assume that someone with pink flamingos on their door or outside their home is definitely into the same thing. So my advice is, if you’re someone who was thinking of decorating your home (or your cruise door) with flamingos because you just think they’re fun and attractive, maybe consider something else. 12/7/2023 0 Comments Design process infographicThey help to organise information in a visually appealing way, allowing viewers to identify critical points and understand the central message quickly.
